A Fishbrain alternative that keeps your spots private

Updated October 5, 2026

If you want to log catches without putting your spots on a social feed, Newbreeds is a private-by-default fishing log. Every catch is pinned exactly but visible only to you unless you share it with a crew you invite, and photos are stripped of GPS data before they leave your phone. Logging is free on iPhone and Android.

Built for different things

Fishbrain is the largest fishing social network: a feed of other anglers' catches and a community map, with a Pro subscription. Newbreeds is a private logbook: your catches, the conditions behind them, and insights built from your own history. Neither is right for everyone.

Questions

Can other anglers see my fishing spots on Newbreeds?

No. Catches and spots are private to you by default. Nothing is shared unless you choose to share a catch with a crew you have joined.

Does Newbreeds remove location data from photos?

Yes. Photos are re-encoded to strip EXIF and GPS data before anything leaves your phone.

Can I share spots with just my fishing buddies?

Yes. Crews (Premium) give you a private shared map, a group chat and leaderboards. Friends join with an access code, and new members can wait for approval.

Is Newbreeds free?

Logging, automatic conditions, your map and your full history are free, forever. Premium adds insights, the 7-day bite forecast, crews, cloud backup and CSV export.
